Tim Blanning is Professor of Modern History in Europe at Cambridge University and Sidney Sussex College in Cambridge. He is also a professor at the Royal Academy of Arts. His books include The Culture of Power and the Power of Culture, The French Revolutionary Wars 1782-1802, The French Revolution in Germany, Joseph II and Enlightened Despotism, Reform and Revolution in Mainz, 1743-1803 and The Pursuit of Glory: Europe 1648-1815. He won the Enid McLeod Literary Award in 2007.
