The action of this new novel of Abeille is placed years after the events narrated in the gardens estatuarios (Sixth Floor, 2014). The barbarian invasion has reached the gates of the capital, Terrèbre, which has also fallen. Strange relationships are established between the steppe horde and the inhabitants of the occupied lands, and a new order (often with the appearance of chaos and debauchery) is taking shape. The mysterious, aged and probably mad horde prince is obsessed with finding that legendary and anonymous traveler whom he met in his youthful days, and who the readers knew in the first installment of the saga. On this occasion, the protagonist is a linguist who knows the language of the region of the Statuary Gardens, which has undertaken the task of translating the traveler's book. This fact draws the attention of the prince, who puts him under the protection of his entourage of warriors to undertake, together, a fabulous journey for the past and redemption, a journey that will take them through a hallucinogenic geography. Winds of change seem to blow everywhere, though progress and decay often become indistinguishable from one another. However, the worldview of the steppe people will surely have taught us to be freer.
