Paul Guth (1910-1997), born in Ossun, France, is the author of an extensive work hardly translated into Spanish. A versatile writer, he cultivated all kinds of fictional and essay genres, as well as children's books. To his credit, he has the prestigious Grand Prix du Romain de l'Académie Française (1956) and the Prix Chateaubriand (1985). Among his works of fiction, include Les Mémoires d'un Naïf (1953), Le Naïf aux quarante enfants (1955) and Le Naïf locataire (1956) -in which he recounts the adventures of Ingenuo, professor of French, one of the characters that will cover all his work- and Une enfance pour la vie (1985). Shadows of a dream (Autour des dames du bois de Boulogne, Journal d'un film, 1945) is his first essay.
