More than a hundred years ago, the writer Lafcadio Hearn compiled a selection of kaidan, Japanese stories of ghosts and mystery, and translated them into English in more than a dozen books. Some of the stories were versions of traditional Chinese stories and others were influenced by Shintoism and Buddhism in the Edo era (1683-1868). In contemporary culture, these ghost stories have found a new form of expression thanks to film, manga and anime. In this graphic novel, writer Sean Michael Wilson and illustrator Michiru Morikawa present us with six terrifying supernatural stories that contain all the flavor and essence of Japan's best mystery stories. Novel nominated for the 2016 Eisner Award in the category of Best adaptation from another medium.
