Dieter Thomä, born in 1959, is since 2000 a professor of Philosophy at the University of St. Gallen. He has been a visiting professor at Brown University and an academic member at the New School for Social Research in New York, at the Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles and at the Wissenschaftskolleg in Berlin. Currently, he is an academic member at the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton. His research work focuses on social philosophy, ethics, cultural philosophy, political philosophy and phenomenology. He has published numerous books on these areas.
