Pablo Emilio Angarita Cañas is a Doctor in Human Rights and Development from the Pablo de Olavide University (Spain), a Master in Political Science from the Institute of Political Studies and a lawyer from the University of Antioquia. He is a teacher and researcher at the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences of the University of Antioquia; specialist in Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law; coordinator of the Interdisciplinary and Inter-institutional Research Group on Conflicts and Violence of the Institute of Regional Studies (INER) of the University of Antioquia; Member of the Working Group of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO): Security in Democracy: a challenge to violence in Latin America and founder, researcher and member of the management team of the Observatory of Human Security of Medellín, made up of the Municipal Ombudsman, the Popular Training Institute (IPC) and the University of Antioquia.
