CARLOS GARCÍA GUAL (Palma de Mallorca, 1943), professor of Greek Philology at the Complutense University of Madrid, is a translator of numerous classical texts, literary critic and author of several essays on Greek literature and philosophy and comparative literature, among them: Epicurus, The sect of the dog, The origins of the novel, The fictionalized Antiquity, Prometheus: myth and tragedy, Enigmatic Oedipus, Sirens, Dictionary of myths, The light of the distant lighthouses and The death of the heroes. He is a member of the Royal Spanish Academy of the Language.
