Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse was born in Bhutan in 1961. He is a disciple of Khenpo Appey Rinpoche and heads the well-known Dzongsar Monastery and Dzongsar School. In addition, he is responsible for the education of thousands of monks living in different monasteries and institutes in Asia and oversees Siddhartha's Intent, an organization with centers around the world.

Khyentse has written and directed the films The Cup and The Traveler and the Magician.
