Jorge L. Giovannetti. He is Professor of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras. His academic works on various topics in Caribbean historical sociology have been published in journals such as Caribbean Studies (2002, 2003, 2009), Latin American and Caribbean Ethnic Studies (2006), International Labor and Working-Class History (2009), Cuban Studies (2008), and Small Ax: A Caribbean Journal of Criticism (2006, 2013). He was awarded a scholarship by the British Academy in 2006, visiting professor at Princeton University in 2007, and since 2013 he has served on the Editorial Board of New West Indian Guide magazine.
