RAPHAËL CONFIANT (Le Lorrain, Martinique, 1951) is one of the most important writers of the Caribbean; his books denounce the scars of slavery and the lack of future of which the Antilles have been victims. He has published numerous novels, including: Adèle et la pacotilleuse (2005), Case à Chine (2007) and L'Hôtel du bon plaisir (2009).
