He is a historian specializing in the study of landscapes and technique in Antiquity, as well as in Roman and Armenian history. Having taught at the universities of Perugia, Lecce, Paris-VIII and Leuven-la-Neuve, he currently teaches Ancient History at the University of Rouen. He has published, among other titles, La tecnica in Grecia e Roma (2000) Marco Antonio (2003), and La res publica e il Mediterraneo (2008).
