Despite his lack of engagement with questions of normative political theory, Deleuze is a deeply political philosopher. His work in collaboration with Guattari offers new concepts and a new approach to thinking philosophically about the political. Deleuze's contribution to political thought must be evaluated in relation to his own conception and practice of philosophy. The premise here is that Deleuze must be taken literally when he describes his work with Guattari as 'philosophy, nothing but philosophy, in the traditional sense of the term'. (Deleuze 1980: 99).
