In this volume, the author's initial formulations on gender and violence remain: 1) the expression "sexual violence" is confusing, because although the aggression is carried out by sexual means, its purpose is not sexual but of the order of power; 2) these are not attacks originating in the libidinal drive translated into a desire for sexual satisfaction, but rather the libido is oriented here towards power and a mandate from male peers or brothers that requires proof of belonging to the group; 3) what endorses belonging to the group is a tribute that, through levy, flows from the feminine position to the masculine, constructing it as a result of that process; 4) the hierarchically arranged functional structure that the mandate of masculinity originates is analogous to the mafia order; 5) through this type of violence, power is expressed, exhibited and consolidated in a gruesome way b...read more
