Mexican researcher, academic, journalist and writer. In 1993, he completed his Bachelor's degree in International Law (Mexico) and then pursued his Master's Degree in Hispanic Literature (University of Ottawa, Canada). He obtained a PhD in Literary Studies from McGill University in Montreal. He practiced journalism for more than a decade at El Sol de Tampico (OEM).

As an author, he has published numerous articles, essays, monographic chapters, individual poems, interviews and journalistic editorials.

In 2013 he received the Altamirano Prize for one of his novels.
