The trans phenomenon has produced a feverish discourse around the difference between the sexes, which reminds us that this difference, today as always, is disturbing and moves us to action.

This work transmits the bases for approaching the subject from a certain point of view: one that takes the fantasy as an axiom of subjectivity. The study is anchored in psychoanalytic theory so as not to get lost in the multiplicity of discourses that have been produced on this point.

Resisting current explanations, including hasty conclusions about a supposed correlation between the phenomenon and a structure (diagnosis of psychosis), even returning to certain moments of psychoanalysis to understand the divisions in the schools of Freud and Lacan linked to the quarrel of the phallus. But this text strives to go beyond the criticism of discourses, laying the foundations for an approach to the object of study that combines the Lacanian theory of sexuality with parameters of identity without resorting to classification schemes, making clinical experience operational to achieve distinctions in the field of study: trans, passing.
