Almost three decades have passed since I decided to publish some notes on the history of philosophy, the result of a personal reflection on major themes of human thought, which I wanted to convey in the most simple and direct language possible to the reader who was beginning in this discipline. This twentieth edition of A Brief History of Philosophy includes 20th century philosophy, Husserl and Wittgenstein, especially Derrida, the philosopher of deconstruction, and Ricoeur, the noble and clear inspiration of hermeneutic reflection.
