Julia Rothman is the author and/or illustrator of twelve books, including The Country Life, Nature Notebook, Ocean Life, and The Wild Life (published in Spanish by Errata naturae), Ladies Drawing Night, and Hello, New York. Her books have been reviewed and celebrated in outlets such as The New York Times, The Atlantic, and The Boston Globe. In 2017, she co-founded Women Who Draw, an open directory of female-identifying illustrators, artists, and cartoonists. She and Shaina Feinberg have a long history of collaboration. Their illustrated column, "Scratch," appears every other Sunday in The New York Times. They have also collaborated on illustrated stories for The New Yorker, Topic, and other publications. She resides in Brooklyn, New York.
