Four men share a cramped underground cell in an Istanbul interrogation center. To make the time more bearable, they share stories filled with tenderness and pain, always revolving around the city that seems to ignore them. Over the course of ten days, they tell each other stories and personal experiences, revealing desires and fears, yearnings for the future and sorrows from the past. Little by little, they transform the city into the true protagonist of the story, a luminous parable in which suffering and hope coexist, with all their contradictions. Burhan Sönmez's work spares no resources, including humor, to recount a tragedy. The novel is a love letter to Istanbul, transformed into a palimpsest covered in both dreams and despair.
