Anne Fadiman

Anne Fadiman. (New York, 1953), a member of a family closely linked to literature, she is a journalist, editor, teacher and essayist. She is the author of The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down (National Book Critics Circle Award, Los Angeles Times Book for Current Interest, and Salon Book Award 1997), as well as two anthologies of essays: Ex Libris. Confessions of a Reader (originally published in 1998) and At Large and At Small: Familiar Essays (2007). In 2017 she published a memoir about her relationship with her father, The Wine.

Lover's Daughter: A Memoir (NPR Best Book of the Year and Library Journal_Best Book of the Year 2017). For seven years she was the editor of The American Scholar. His articles have appeared in Harper's, The New Yorker, and The New York Times, among other publications. She has been awarded three times with the National Magazine Awards for both reporting and essays. Ella Francis Ella Writer-in-Residence at Yale University, where she teaches in the Department of English and mentors students contemplating careers in writing or publishing. In 2012 she was awarded the Richard H. Brodhead Prize for Teaching Excellence from Yale University, and in 2015 she was elected to the American Academy of Arts Sciences.
