Armin Öhri

Armin Öhri was born on September 23, 1978 in Ruggell, the northernmost town of Liechtenstein. He studied History, Philosophy and German Philology. Since 2009 he has published stories and novels in various independent publishers, including the prestigious German publisher Gmeiner. His works, usually detective novels that Öhri frames in a thoroughly researched historical context, often follow the schemes of the great nineteenth-century novels. The dark muse earned him the European Union Prize for Literature 2014. The character of Julius Bentheim, a young painter and amateur detective, is recurrent in his novels which include: Die dunkle Muse (The Dark Muse, Impedimenta 2016), Die Dame im Schatten (2015), Der Bund der Okkultisten (2014) or Sinfonie des Todes (2011) that he co-wrote with the author Vanessa Tschirky.
