Philosopher by training, doctor in film studies, Francois Niney teaches aesthetics of cinema, and particularly the evolution of documentary forms, at the University of Paris III New Sorbonne and at Femis. He devotes his research to questions of the representation and "montage" of reality, as well as its relations between reality and fiction. He is also a documentary filmmaker.
