There is a man in a cafe who is dedicated to interpreting the sensations. People come to him and tell him what they have had, cosmic or banal, daily or intriguing, and he, the Master of Sensations, reveals what they mean. In this collection there are long stories and very short stories, fantastic stories and realistic stories. Neither is similar to the following, not only because of the themes, but also because of the narrative style and genre. There are humorous and absurdly delusional tales, such as "Abelardo y la immensidad"; vampire tales like "The City of Vampires"; stories about New York like "The Sad Heir"; false Victorian tales like "The Inca Mirror"; a story that could well be from the young Cortázar, "El oucro"; a story that perhaps deals with the birth of a superhero, «Camila», and even a Japanese story written in verse.
