Agobardo de Lyon

Agobardo de Lyon

Agobardo de Lyon, bishop of this city between the years 816 and 840, was one of the most outstanding figures of the Carolingian Empire and of the cultural renaissance experienced during that period. Opponent of Felix de Urgel and of adoptionism, he also denounced the cult of images, liturgical practices without a biblical basis and also intervened in the dynastic conflicts that confronted Luis the Pious with his children.
