Alberto Pimenta (Oporto, 1937) is a practicing poet of very diverse disciplines (written poems, collages, poetic actions -performances-, theoretical essays, etc.). Hardly known in Spain-and discreetly ignored by the criticism of his country-Pimenta is undoubtedly one of the most notable living Portuguese poets. Author of a varied, solid and risky work always, he has published some thirty books, among which are titles such as Homo sapiens (1977, & etc), Bestiário Lusitano (1980, Appia), As flies of Pegasus (1998 & etc) or Face-book (2012, 7 Nós). His work, not always easy to translate, has been poured into numerous languages such as French, Italian, Swedish or German. They say that Alberto Pimenta is impossible to classify, and perhaps it is true, but we will venture to define him as a great player who risks everything -expression and thought- in each game. Each text is, thus, a challenge for the reader, a challenge that never comes out unscathed.
