Alessandro de Giorgi is one of those rare exponents of a critical criminology at a time increasingly shaped by the logic of exception and the application of special laws: a unique logic of war against enemies as undefined as they are ubiquitous (terrorism, immigration illegal, drugs). His investigations follow the long list of what could be encompassed under the rubric of Italian post-workerism and its recent contributions to the global movement. His articles in Derive Approdi and Globalpoject are of particular relevance, in addition to his last two recently published books in Spanish: the present book and Zero Tolerance. Control strategies and practices (Virus, 2005)
