Professor at the Complutense University of Madrid and president of the Royal Spanish Society of Physics. He worked at the Nuclear Energy Board (now CIEMAT) and the universities of Paris, Barcelona and Zaragoza. He is the author of The Many Faces of Science (1995), From aggression to nuclear war (1996) with J. Martin Ramirez, and biography Science, uncertainty and consciousness: Heisenberg (2004), along with books in his field . He was founder and director for ten years of Spanish Journal of Physics. He has received several awards, including the Research Award of the Royal Academy of Sciences (1977), Medal of the Royal Spanish Society of Physics (1985), the International Essay Prize Jovellanos (1995) and the Silver Medal of the Principality of Asturias (1999).
