With the name of Gloria Jean Watkins, bell hooks was born in 1952 in Kentucky (United States). Prolific writer and black feminist activist, her work has always been chaired by the study and criticism of the intersectionality of gender, race and class. His works are Ain't I a Woman? Black Women and Feminism (1981), Yearning: Race, Gender, and Cultural Politics (1990), Where we stand: class matters (2000) or Writing beyond race: living theory and practice (2013).
