Bryan Gilliam

He has taught at Duke University since the end of 1986. He has received awards and scholarships from the NEH, IREX, DAAD, Goethe Institut and the Kurt Weill Foundation. His research focuses on composers such as Richard Strauss, Richard Wagner, Anton Bruckner, Kurt Weill and Korngold, as well as Vienna at the turn of the century, music and theater from the Weimar era, politics of National Socialism and music Of Hollywood movies. He regularly offers lectures at the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, the Santa Fe Opera, the San Francisco Opera, the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Bayreuth Festival, among others.
