
A graduate in French Philology and Germanics, he has been director of the National Library of Spain, the Publications Service of the Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid, the Losada publishing house and the Cervantes Institutes in Vienna, Hamburg and Bremen. He is also the author of the novel Un ensayo sobre las lágrimas (in press), the essays Lo excelso y lo raro (1997) and La belleza de la luz (2024), and the books of poems Cruciare semetipsum (1986), La lengua blanda (Second prize Gil de Biedma Prize, 1995), La perfecta alegría (2008) and Prójimo (in press). In Editorial Trotta he has published La firmeza de un nudo. To read Simone Weil (2025) and has collaborated in the edition of Simone Weil's works Letter to a Religious (2nd ed., 2011, prologue), Waiting for God (6th ed., 2024, prologue) and Gravity and Grace (5th ed., 2025, edition and translation)
