Christoph Schäfer, born 1961, is Professor of Ancient History Department of History at the University of Trier. His research interests include Hellenistic ruler legitimacy with the successors of Alexander the Great history, social and economic development of the Roman Republic and Empire, the history of Late Antiquity to the migration of peoples and ancient waterways. He is the author of several books.
