Cicero (106-43 BC) was a committed politician, skilled orator, lawyer, and philosopher. He is considered one of the most brilliant and influential intellectuals and thinkers of the Roman Republican world. Imbued with the philosophical ideas of Stoicism, his philosophical and reflective work is increasingly appreciated in today's world. Cicero presents philosophy as a path to happiness and a therapy for the soul, always addressing humanly enduring themes such as friendship, pain, old age, and happiness itself. He is also responsible for introducing the most famous Hellenistic philosophical schools into the Republican intellectual community, as well as for the creation of a philosophical vocabulary in Latin.
