Clark Ashton Smith

Clark Ashton Smith (January 13, 1893 - August 14, 1961) was an American poet, sculptor, painter, and writer of fantasy, horror, and science fiction stories. He was born in Long Valley, California. He owes his fame mainly to his literary work and the friendship he shared with Lovecraft between 1922 and 1937, the year Lovecraft died; during that period he participated in The Myths of Cthulhu. Smith, H. P. Lovecraft, and Robert E. Howard were the most important contributors to the pulp magazine Weird Tales.
