Daniel Mella

He was born in Montevideo in 1976. He published Pogo, his first novel, in 1997, at the age of 21, which was followed in 1998 by Melting (which came to be published in Spain by Lengua de Trapo) and in November 2000.

After a pause, in 2013, the storybook Lava, winner of the Bartolomé Hidalgo Narrative Prize, saw the light of day, becoming the youngest author to receive said award. In 2016, he published the novel El hermano mayor, an autofictional work based on the death of his brother, which was very well received by critics in his country.

He has been in charge of literary workshops. He is a regular contributor to the Cultural supplement of the newspaper El País and the Lento Magazine, edited by the newspaper La Diaria.
