Diana Compte Tordesillas is a biologist from the Complutense University of Madrid and holds a degree in Environmental Sciences from the UNED (National University of Distance Education), where she also completed a Master's degree in Chemical Science and Technology, specializing in research. Her connection to the natural world began in childhood, influenced by her parents, researchers at the CSIC (Spanish National Research Council) who were affiliated for many years with the National Museum of Natural Sciences. Her academic training has been complemented by numerous specialized courses and active participation in seminars, working groups, and scientific conferences, an activity she continues to this day. Since 2005, she has worked as a high school teacher for the Community of Madrid, a job she combines with her passion for science communication. This book stems from her conviction that understanding the complexity and beauty of natural phenomena is the first step toward protecting them. She aims to convey to the general public the same enthusiasm she transmits daily in her classes, where she encourages students to view nature through the lens of science without losing their sense of wonder.
