Born in Tiremont in 1831, Edmond Michotte is going to continue his studies in France, in the Louis-le-Grand school, studies interrupted by the Revolution of 1848 that forces him to return with his family. Desirous of devoting himself to music, he left the free University of Brussels a few years later, where he followed art history courses to return to Paris and plunge back into his natural element: he leads a worldly life there, frequents the regulars of the conservatory and it gravitates in the Parisian microcosm of arts, letters and music.
