Ernesto Meccia (General Las Heras, Buenos Aires Province, 1968) holds a PhD in Social Sciences and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). He is a tenured professor at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at UBA and the National University of the Littoral (UNL), where he teaches qualitative research methodologies.

He was the Academic Secretary of the Sociology Department at UBA. He is a member of the Sociology Department at the Faculty of Humanities and Sciences (FHUC) of the National University of the Littoral (UNL). He contributes to the "Soy" supplement of Página 12 and to the journal Anfibia. He is a keen observer of the works of Erving Goffman, Howard Becker, Alfred Schutz, and Pierre Bourdieu.
