Evando Nascimento

Evando Nascimento is an essayist, short story writer, and university professor. He holds a PhD in Literature from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. In the 1990s, he studied with Jacques Derrida at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales and with Sarah Kofman at the Sorbonne. In 2003, he organized the last colloquium in which Derrida participated before his death, "Thinking about Deconstruction," in Rio de Janeiro. His fiction work includes Unnatural Portrait (2008), Cantos do Mundo (2011; finalist for the Portugal Telecom Prize in 2012), Profane Songs (2014), and Contracantos (2019). He has also published the essay collections Derrida e a literatura (3rd ed. 2015; 2020 in Spanish), Clarice Lispector: uma literatura pensante (2012), La solidarite des vivants et le pardon (2017), among others. He is the editor of the Contemporary Collection: Literature, Philosophy & Arts for the publisher Civilização Brasileira. Ediciones mimesis will publish El pensamiento vegetal. Por un nuevo humanismo.
