Felicidad Blanc

Felicidad Blanc

Felicidad Blanc y Bergnes de Las Casas was born to a Madrid bourgeois family in 1913. Her father, José Blanc Fortacín, was a doctor at the Hospital de La Princesa in Madrid. His mother, Felicidad Bergnes de Las Casas Palacín, was the granddaughter of the illustrious Hellenist and publisher Antonio Bergnes de Las Casas, rector of the University of Barcelona and senator. In 1941 Felicidad married the poet Leopoldo Panero (1909-1962), with whom he had three children: Juan Luis Panero (1942-2013), Leopoldo María Panero (1948-2014) and José Moisés, Michi Panero (1951-2004 ), the first two, poets like his father, and the third, intellectual and a figure linked to the Madrid scene. Felicidad published several short stories in the 1950s that were very well received by critics, but she did not take long to abandon her literary career because she did not feel supported by her husband, and was relegated to the figure of wife and mother. He participated, along with his children, in the documentary film by Jaime Chávarri, The Disenchantment. He died in San Sebastián on October 30, 1990.
