François Cheng, born in China in 1929, is a member of the French Academy since 2002, calligrapher, novelist, translator and poet. He is also a professor at the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations University of Paris III. Translator and poet, has published, among other books, Analyse de l'œuvre formelle poétique, d'un auteur des T'ang (André Malraux Prize 1998), Le langage poétique chinois (1975), L'Espace du Rêve (1980) and in 2002, L'Éternité n'est pas trop.
