Franz Baermann Steiner was born in Prague in 1909 and began writing in 1928 In the summer of 1929 became part of the "Free Group Prague". Between then and 1935 he studied at the German university of his native city. He continued his studies in England, where he finished his doctorate in anthropology sociology. In 1938 began his friendship with Elias Canetti. During the summer of 1941 his parents were deported to the Theresienstadt concentration camp and die within a few months at Treblinka; he did not know until 1945 Gets British citizenship in 1950 and traveled to Spain twice, the second in 1952, died on November 27 of that year and is buried in the Jewish Cemetery in Oxford.
