Gilles Ménage (Angers, 1613 - París, 1692) was grammar, Latin, French writer and lexicographer. Controversial personality from early life appears studded with notable women even founded her own literary salon in the rooms of the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris.
Su tratado de los Origins of the French language, can be considered as the first great French etymological dictionary. Molière immortalized him in the guise of the pedant in Vadius Las mujeres sabias (1672).
