Graydon Carter

Graydon Carter has directed Vanity Fair since 1992. He is editor of Vanity Fair's Hollywood (Viking Studio, 2000), Oscar Night (Knopf, 2004), Vanity Fair: The Portraits (Abrams, 2008) and Vanity Fair's Tales of Hollywood (Penguin, 2008). and author of What We've Lost: How the Bush Administration Has Curtailed Our Freedoms, Mortgaged Our Economy, Ravaged Our Environment, and Damaged Our Standing in the World (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2004). He has produced the documentaries The Kid Stays in the Picture, Chicago 10 and Gonzo, and received two Emmy and Peabody awards for his work as executive producer on the documentary of the CBS 9/11, which has been broadcast in 140 countries. Previously, Carter was editor of Time and Life magazines, co-founder of the satirical publication Spy and editor of the weekly The New York Observer. He also owns two restaurants in New York City: Waverly Inn, in Greenwich Village, and Monkey Bar, on East 54th Street.
