Halil Bárcena (Renedo, Cantabria, 1962) is an Islamic scholar, specialist in Sufism of Mevlana Rumi and the whirling dervishes. She has studied Islamic and Arabic and Persian language in Morocco, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Turkey studies as well as studies of Arabic calligraphy and Turkish musicology in Damascus and Istanbul.
It's interpreter ney, Sufi reed flute. Professor of Islamic studies, collaborates with different academic institutions both Spanish and Turkish. He is the author, in Catalan, El sufisme (2008), a work published in Castilian with the title of Sufism (2012), and a translator of Arabic Catalan Diwan of Hallaj (2010). He also co-authored, with Marià Corbí, Jesus of Nazareth, the myth and the sage (2010).
He lives in Barcelona, where he directs the Institut d'Estudis Sufis since 1998.
