Heinrich Dumoulin (1905-1995) sj, was a theologian, Doctor of Philosophy and professor emeritus at Sophia University in Tokyo. Born in Germany, from 1935 until his retirement lived in Japan where he founded the Institute for Oriental Religions and led the Nanzan Institute for Religion and Culture , the largest center in the world dedicated to study of the philosophies and religions both Eastern and Western.
