Jacques-Alain Miller

Jacques-Alain Miller (Châteauroux, February 14, 1944) is a French Lacanian psychoanalyst, founder of the World Association of Psychoanalysis.He began his training with Jean-Paul Sartre, whom she met at age 16. Then he entered the Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris where, in 1964, he met Jacques Lacan. He attended seminars Roland Barthes at the École pratique des hautes études. He was a disciple of Louis Althusser, Jacques Rancière and with Ettiene Balibar. Powered by Althusser to study the complete work of Lacan, then developed a close relationship with the psychoanalyst and married his daughter Judith.He was director of the Department of Psychoanalysis at the University of Paris VIII and president of the Ecole de la cause freudienne, founded in 1981 by Jacques Lacan. After his death, he has devoted himself mainly to the study and dissemination of his thought, editing and delivering seminars workshops and conferences in different parts of the world
