Jacques was born in Epenoy Bouveresse (France) in 1940, he studied philosophy at the École Normale Supérieure and later taught at the University of Geneva and the Sorbonne. In 1995 he created the chair of Philosophy of Language and Knowledge in the Collège de France, where he is professor emeritus since 2010.
Specialist Wittgenstein and analytic philosophy student, has also deepened the work of writers such as Karl Kraus and Robert Musil.
Following the publication of Satire and Prophecy. The voices of Karl Kraus (2011), Basement editions now has this reflection on literature and moral philosophy.
