She was born in Los Angeles, California, in 1949. She is the author of twenty works of fiction and essay. He received the Pulitzer Prize for narrative and the National Critics Prize for his novel Inherit the Earth (1991). Among other works, he has published The Age of Disconsolation (1987), The Greenlanders (1988) and, in recent years, the trilogy formed by Some Luck (2014), Early Warning (2015), and Golden Age (2015). Since 2001 he has been a part of the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
