Javier de Lorenzo

Mathematician and philosopher, he has focused on the conceptual clarification of a series of topics encompassed under the rubric "philosophy of mathematics and science", as well as on the study of figures such as Plato, Pascal, Leibniz, Frege, Gödel, Brouwer , Hilbert, Galileo or Newton, with special attention to Poincaré, to whom he has dedicated two of his books, in 1977 and 2009. He has published seventeen books and more than a hundred essays. Among the former, it is worth highlighting Introduction to the mathematical style (1971), Experiences of reason (1992), Science and artifice (2009) and Mathematics and ideology (2017).

He has participated in the constitution of various corporations. He is co-founder, along with José Sanmartín and others, of the Institute for Research on Science and Technology in Valencia; of the Society of Logic, Methodology and Philosophy of Science, with Javier Echeverría and others. He was co-president of the First International Congress of History and Pedagogy of Mathematics held in Bogotá in July 1993 and inaugural speaker of the XVI National Congress of Mathematics in Medellín, Colombia, in July 2007. Co-director of the Mathesis magazine of the UNAM of Mexico .
