Jean-Christophe Rufin (June 28, 1952) is a French physician, writer, academic and diplomat, born in Bourges, Cher department. He was elected in 2008 to the French Academy and holds the 28th seat. He was president of the NGO called Action Against Hunger and has been ambassador of his country in Senegal and the Gambia.
