Jean-Louis Déotte (Montreuil-sur-Seine, 1946) is a professor at the University of Paris VIII Saint-Denis, where his doctoral thesis (Le passage du musée) was directed by Jean-François Lyotard. He currently holds the chair there before J. Rancière dictated. He has published extensively on aesthetics, and individual and other researchers on topics such as perspective, museum, photography and film. Lately his interest is directed towards the digital writing. In many Latin American countries has organized symposia on political demise. He runs the online magazine and Esthétiques Appareil collection of publisher L'Harmattan. His books include: Le Musée l'origine de l'esthétique; Le jeu de l'exposition; L'Homme de verre.
